In This House
We have been through some tough times this year, in fact the toughest we have ever had to face and I am so thankful to have my family by my side. About 6 months ago, my daughter was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer at age 12. As a parent I can’t even begin to explain how heartbreaking this was. Since her surgery to remove the cancer she has been really struggling everyday to learn how to live without a thyroid, hypo/hyperthyroidism and also has hypoparathyroidism that seems to be here for good. As if that wasn’t enough, last August (just a few months after cancer diagnosis) my other daughter and my son were diagnosed with Hashimotos Disease, and I also found out I was also positive for Hashimotos Disease. So, long story short, we have quickly become the Thyroid Family. I am not complaining, I am just learning how to navigate this new chapter of our lives. I am by no means an expert on any of this, but I am definitely going to be the best mom advocate for my kiddos that I can be. Everyday I learn more, and everyday we keep surviving! Recently I read something similar to what I have created below about chemo and cancer, and I was inspired to make something personalized for our family-really to highlight was this year has been all about here. In the end-no one fights alone, family and friends mean everything!
